2018 IM Santa Cruz 70.3 Post-Race Thoughts
Okay so now that I’ve slept on the race a little, just wanted to scribble these thoughts down.
Nutrition
On the bike: PB&J Rice Cakes - ate one 10min after T1 since I wanted to wait for my HR to calm down a little, then ate a cake every 40ish minutes from there (4 total cakes)
On the run: 12oz of Skratch (1 scoop) + half a waffle (couldn't really stomach the rest so just held onto it until the final mile) + 2 cups of coke
Definitely need to practice fueling on the run (although this time around I also think that me not being able to stomach the waffle was a minor remnant of my stomach flu effects).
Was surprised by the hills during the run, and I remember vividly thinking that I want to incorporate more strength training into my routine...
Given the circumstances leading up to the race (stomach flu, crazy personal life drama, etc), I'm soooo incredibly happy with how this race turned out ! Definitely fuels the fire for next year; got my eyes set on that top step!! WE ARE GOING TO CRUSH NEXT YEAR!!!!
