Desert Tri 2019 Quick Recap
Results: 3rd OA, 1st in AG
Highlights/things that stood out for me:
Swim pace was slower than anticipated
Bike... I was hoping to really crank it out on the bike but it felt like my legs weren't... strong? As in my inner quads (mid-section) would feel almost cramp-y if I tried to really push. Definitely felt like ~230-250w while I was riding...
RUN: I FELT STRONG. Was most nervous/curious about the run segment as the pace is always super slow with the watts we run at, but pleased to pull a ~6:55min/mi average
I will say that I felt fit but at some point I felt like my legs and feet couldn't keep up? Maybe turnover wasn't there? I didn't feel that usual heavy feeling from under-fueling - I actually never felt that at all during the entire race, which was great!
Overall I went into this feeling a little lethargic and tired from everything going on during the week leading up to this race (traveling to and from Korea for an emergency + jetlag), and remembered just wanting to get it over with while I was waiting for our wave start. BUT once we all started I had a ton of fun!
ALSO: shaved 5 minutes off of the last time I did this in 2017!
It's so strange - I feel like there's much to be happy about/to celebrate but I just feel... confused?
